Meet Laura
Mystery writing drives Laura's storytelling. Her interpretation of the genre offers opportunities for suspense and surprise, as well as for deepening our understanding of human virtue and vice.
Laura grew up in New York, the fifth of six daughters. She earned a BA from the University of Toronto and went to work in Vigo, Spain. She lived in a small village and studied part-time at the University of Santiago. Returning to the US, she taught Spanish and History in Seattle Schools. After attending an Iowa Writers Workshop summer session, she began to submit short stories and write novels.
China Rock, a mystery and coming-of-age story set in Washington State's San Juan Islands, was published in 2013 by her private imprint, Mark House Publishing. The Laguna Shores Research Club, a mystery set in the Florida art world, was published September 2022 by TouchPoint Press, and a sequel is planned for 2025. She lives with her husband, Paul, dividing their time between Georgia and Washington State.
Writers benefit from community, and Laura is a member of Mystery Writers of America, the Authors Guild, and the Literary Guild of St. Simons Island.
